HEP C PROBE PLEDGE GETS THUMBS UP
CAMPAIGNERS yesterday welcomed health secretary Nicola Sturgeon's pledge of a Scottish public inquiry into the hepatitis C scandal.
It will follow the outcome of an inquiry into how people were infected with the Hep C and HIV through contaminated blood products in England and Wales.
The SNP deputy leader met with campaigners yesterday at the Executive's Glasgow offices.
The inquiry was a manifesto commitment of the SNP.
Philip Dolan, chairman of the Scottish Haemophilia Group, said: "The speed and recognition of the need for this inquiry is a matter for which Nicola Sturgeon should be congratulated.
"We look forward to working with her."
Hundreds of Scots, including haemophilia sufferers and other patients, were given contaminated blood in the 1970s and 1980s.
Previous administrations resisted calls for a public inquiry.
Lawyer Frank Maguire, whose firm Thompsons represents hundreds of victims and their families, said last night: "At last they have the real prospect of finding out the truth."

The Great Fury has risen - despite Sunday and my stalker presenting himself at Pudsey Police Station and giving his address AND the officer assuring me that he would be given the warning, he has NOT been issued with a harrassment warning. I am so angry I might just explode, or chew off my own arm. (I came home to an answerphone message from the original PC to say he's hasn't given the warning because he's not at the address in North Leeds, no because he's f***ing round the corner from me. I wish this would get sorted, i need this not to be a current concern. *SCREAMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMSSSS*
